Why ads exist and where your support goes
I need to be honest with you about something that's been weighing on me.
I've seen complaints about ads on Messages Never Seen. I get it. Nobody likes ads. But I need you to understand why they're there.
Without ads, MNS doesn't exist. It's that simple.
Right now, I barely make anything from MNS. Almost every dollar from ads goes straight back into keeping this site running. And when Google AdSense limits us, which has happened for the past 3 months, things get really bad.
During those 3 months without ads, I had to pay over $300 out of pocket. Money I don't have. I drained my savings. I used my Christmas money. I was over a week late on hosting payments and came within hours of the site being shut down.
I genuinely considered shutting down MNS entirely because I couldn't keep paying for it myself.
Here's what it costs to run MNS each month (January estimate):
That means 82% of all ad revenue goes directly back into MNS. And these numbers can get higher. Usually we only make around $100/month, which means almost everything goes back to the site, and I often have to pay extra out of my own pocket.
I'm being transparent with you:
Starting now, I'm publishing monthly financial reports at /earnings so you can see exactly what comes in, what goes out, and what I keep. Complete transparency. You deserve to know how close we are to shutting down every month.
Donations? We've made about $10 in over a year. That doesn't work. Ads are the only way to keep this running.
The only way I can minimize ads is through consistent donations. Without that, ads stay.
